Fun pictures

Not too much has been going on lately. Kimmie is walking everywhere & is still as cute as ever! She has also started praying. When she is hungry she will walk around with her arms folded & sometimes she sits in her chair & says a little prayer. You can also show her a picture of Jesus & ask "who is that?" and she will say "Jesus!" Or you can ask "where's Jesus?" and she will look around for his picture & point to it. It touches my heart every time! She has such an amazing little spirit! Here are some fun pictures taken recently. Just a warning, there are a lot, it's hard to choose which ones to post! Also, I have recently been informed not everyone shares my love of country (Rossii) so I am now taking requests for our playlist:)

Here are some fun candy dishes I made. The big one was for our friend Ross & the little one is a gift for someone else. I love making these, they are so simple. I am working on a couple others right now so I will post pictures when I finish them.

Crabbing

Last Wednesday our friends dad, Fred, took Seth, Scott & Cyndy out crabbing. They left our house at 5:30 am and headed up to Hammond. Fred had his boat waiting at the dock on the Columbia River. They headed out and once they were out far enough they started baiting the crab pots with tuna heads, which were left over from when Cyndy canned tuna. (By the way, if you have never had fresh tuna you are missing out. It is really good!) Then they threw the crab pots into the water, spacing them so they could catch more crab. Then they waited.......and waited......and waited some more. Because of the fog they had a hard time relocating their buoys but after a while they were able to find them all. Luckily, Fred had an electric pulley which made pulling them back into the boat much easier. You have to pull the crab out by their back legs otherwise they would pinch you. Then Scott would measure them & as long as they were big enough and males they kept them. The limit is 12 crab per person, so they caught all they could and headed back to shore.
Once back on shore they drove to Fred's house in Astoria. Then the fun began: killing, cleaning and cooking the crab. Scott's job was to chop them in half while they were screaming for their lives:) After they were cut in half Seth would pull their shells off and then Cyndy would clean them. Next they put them in four big cookers and boiled them. Once they were done cooking you have to put them in a sink full of cold water and once they cooled they were put into coolers to take home. They made it home around 6 and we had fresh crab, baked potato's & corn on the cob for dinner. I have never had crab that fresh before, it was so good! Because they caught 36 crab, we didn't want the rest to go bad so today they pulled all the meat from the left over crabs and put it in the freezer. They had a lot of fun & hopefully next time I will get to go too! Here are some more pictures.......

Fireproof, P90X & tagged again!

So I don't normally blog about movies I see (and we do see a lot of movies) but today I went with Cyndy & Kathy to see Fireproof & I LOVED it! I didn't even know this movie had been made, but I started hearing nothing but great things about it. It is is a great story of how the power of God transforms a husband and wife. I was a little skeptical going into the movie, Kirk Cameron is not one of my favorite actors, ever since he turned all high and mighty religious & a little weird. But, this film completely changed what I think about him. He is very devoted to his faith and even did this movie for FREE! Instead of receiving a check for his work, he asked the production company to make a donation to a charity. There is also a scene where his character kisses his wife & for this he refused to kiss the actress & insisted his wife stepped in for that scene (they did a far away shot of their silhouette so you can't even tell it is not the main actress.) There is a lot of emotion in this film but it was nice to see a movie with such a nice message! I suggest everyone go see it, but be warned some of the acting is a little low budget, but overall it is a great movie! It was done very tastefully & really makes you realize what an important role Heavenly Father plays in our lives, especially marriage! The emotion of this movie is very strong, so it is not one I would watch all the time, but I will definitely buy it!! If you haven't heard of it, go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rtk8MSG9GOo
Ok, enough about that. Tonight Seth, Scott & I started P90X. I have been wanting to get the workout DVD's for a long time, but they are super expensive! A few weeks ago I decided to check if our library had copies & oddly enough they did! It took me a few weeks to get all 12 DVD's but we finally did. We did the first video tonight & we are hoping to reach our individual goal weight by New Years. I won't blog about it too often, but so far I like it.

Oh yeah, one more thing. Kimmie is walking around so much now. She is so good at it! Yesterday I got the video camera out to record her walking & she started hamming it up for the camera, like usual. Well, this time she started closing her eyes while walking, it was so funny! She would close them & laugh while she walked. She is the cutest ever! The only bad thing is with all this new found freedom comes more bumps and bruises. Sometimes I get so nervous! She is a good walker, but still stumbles and falls sometimes. It is so sad when she gets hurt! That is one downside of motherhood, you can't protect them from everything! She is talking so much. If you ask her "what does a dog say?" she responds, WOOF. Then, "what does a kitty cat say?", EOWW. "What does thumper say?" then she wiggles her nose. "What does a bird say?" CAW, CAW "What does a duck say?" QUAK, QUAK. The funniest is Seth just taught her "What does Mommy say?" And she shakes her finger at you saying, No, No, No. It is so funny. Now I just have to teach her what does daddy say....but I can't think of anything funny to have her say, so if you have any ideas, let me know! She says a lot of other words, but mostly animal sounds. She also loves Baby Einstein DVD's. She will walk down the hall, into the playroom, turn the tv on and sit in front of the couch waiting for you to turn on the dvd. We try to limit the amount of tv she watches, but that darn Baby Einstein has her hooked and wanting more! At least she is learning something from it. Well, I guess that's it for now. I am smart!

*So it has been brought to my attention (thank you Scott) that my #6 in my "tagged" is not written correctly! I promise I am not a dumb person, I just need to type slower & proofread what I type:) It is funny because I start off with "I am really smart"....then I type something that is grammatically incorrect:) I just typed an extra "I" in it. It doesn't help Scott read this after I had just said yet another dumb thing without thinking & he and Seth were already having a good laugh at my expense! Oh well:)

Now, 6 things about me...

1. I used to hate guacamole but now I LOVE it!
2. I always say I am growing my hair out, then I let it get long & always end up wearing it in a ponytail, so I go get it cut. I love the new haircut for a couple days, then hate it & swear I am growing my hair out again. It is a vicious cycle!
3. I am addicted to shopping at Good Will! I have been there 3 times this week already! You can find things brand new & they are super cheap! I have been going crazy buying craft stuff that would normally cost me a lot of money! You can also get great books, movies & tons of other goodies for super cheap!
4. I love doing laundry but I hate putting the clothes away.
5. I am super picky about the way you put the toilet paper on the holder. It has to be when you pull it comes from over the roll, not from under...does that make sense to anyone?!?!?! Oh well, it is hard to explain.
6. I am really smart, but I often my mouth gets ahead of my brain & I say ditsy things before I can stop myself! It always gives Seth a good laugh:)

Kimmie is walking!!!

Kimmie walked alone for the first time just now & I missed it! She walks all the time holding one of your hands. We have been trying for a while to get her to do it on her own. We would let go of one of her hands & she would just stand there or sit down. Well, Seth & Scott had to go downtown today to do some work & they took Kimmie with them. I was excited to have time alone to get some laundry & cleaning done. My phone just rang saying I had a video message. When I opened it up there is Kimmie walking around all by herself! I started crying I was so happy!!!!! But so sad that I missed it; just like I missed her rolling over for the first time. I swear Seth planned it:) I am so happy, but nervous because now everything changes! Oh no, I better get ready to chase her around the house even more than I already do now! This is the very first footage of her walking all by herself:) It is only 10 seconds long because that's all you can send in a video message from our phones. She is such a pro!!! I am sure we will be posting more videos soon!

So 1 year ago today was Kimberly's due date. I have been thinking a lot about it & wondering how things would have been had she came on her due date, not 6 weeks early. This picture was taken just a couple days before Kimmie was born. I was HUGE!!! Anyway, I can't believe how fast time goes by & Kimmie is such a happy, healthy girl. A couple days ago it was super nice outside so we took Kimmie to play in a fountain in Beaverton. She LOVED it! We took so many great pictures, but I only posted these two. It was a lot of fun, but I forgot to bring towels for us! After playing for a while we were soaked & cold. We used our blanket to dry Kimmie off & luckily I had a change of clothes in the diaper bag. She had a great time and we will definitely take her back next summer! The weather is starting to cool off so now we have to find other activities to do. Here is our cute little family after playing in the fountain!
I am feeling much better these days. The swelling in my nose is going down and I can breathe so much better! It was a rough couple of days but I am so glad I had the surgery. Thank you Seth, Oma, Papa & Scott for helping with Kimmie & letting me rest!
