Kimmie's 5 year check-up

I can't believe that I am posting about my baby girl's 5 year check-up. I am not ready to accept that she is growing up.
Here are her stats:
Weight: 51 lbs 12oz (90th percentile)
Height: 3 ft 8 3/4 in (90th percentile)
BP: 98/60

She is growing great! The doctor asked her all sorts of questions about colors, shapes, animals, etc. Then she had her write her name and draw some shapes. Kimmie nailed it!!! She is so ready for kindergarten. They also did a hearing test and a vision test, both of which she passed.
After the eye exam came the scary part...SHOTS! She had to get three shots. I stayed in front of her so she couldn't see and tried distracting her with talk about ice cream and yummy treats. It worked for about two seconds, then the first shot came..she looked right at me with the look of complete shock. Then the second shot, she yelled. Then after the third, and final shot, she cried "I want my Dadda!" The nurse was great and it was all over so fast, and she handled it like a champ.
On the way home I offered to take her to McDonald's, but she politely declined saying she doesn't want to eat chicken nuggets anymore because they are bad for you:) Instead, we went home, picked up Cyndy, David & Joshua and went to get some frozen yogurt.
I only have one week left to enjoy having my sweet girl home all the time. I better plan some fun things to do.

Kimmie's 5th birthday!

Our first family picture
Wow, that feels strange to type, my baby girl is 5!!! She was so excited for her birthday, every night before bed she would mark off another day on her calendar, counting down the days. The day before her birthday we celebrated with a family dinner/cake & ice cream. She knew exactly what she wanted: nachos and a chocolate frosting castle cake. So, I spent the day decorating this...

Joshua loves, loves, loves cake

Dinner was delicious and after cake she of course opened presents. She was so excited!

Nice photo bomb David:)

On her actual birthday she woke us up super early, so excited! She got to choose whatever she wanted for breakfast, and she picked "squares" (for those of you who don't know, that is frosted mini wheat's. The kids refer to all their cereal by what shape they are. Cheerios are circles, Shredded Spoonfuls are octagons)
After breakfast she opened more presents. More pajamas and a Disney Princess Doll set from Grandma.

After presents we got ready for Kimmie's birthday party. We took some of Kimmie's friends from her church class downtown to watch the movie Brave. It was quite a task looking after all these kids, but luckily I had some great help!
waiting to get our tickets
After 3 large buckets of popcorn and a great movie, we headed across the street to continue the party. Kimmie did not want cupcakes, instead she wanted chocolate chip cookies. So, the kids sang her happy birthday and we ate cookies.

It was super hot that day, 99 degrees! So, we let the kids play in the water for a few minutes. Some just splashed and ran around, others were drenched!
Great kids!!!

Later that day we took the kids to dinner. We ended up going to Red Robing. They sang to Kimmie and gave her a birthday sundae. My favorite memory from the night was she would eat on bite of the sundae, then give David a bite, then Joshua. She offered some to me and Seth too:) She shared her entire sundae with her two brothers, at one point giving them more bites than she was getting. Eventually she was full and gave the rest to her brothers. She really is such a sweet girl. I love her so much and words cannot explain what a blessing she is to our family.

It was a long, emotional, but GREAT day. I can't believe that my sweet little girl is already 5! And, to top it off, we got her kindergarten packet in the mail today. She starts school in 2 1/2 weeks. AHHH!!!! I am not ready to let her go off into the world.
She is such a smart, beautiful, loving girl and I am so glad I get to be her Mother!!!

California Trip Day 3

May 23rd: Disneyland & California Adventure

This was such a fun day. As I mentioned before, Cyndy flew out just to be there for the kids very first trip to Disneyland (it was also my first time at Disneyland). The kids didn't know we were going to Disneyland, I was so excited to surprise them. That morning I decided I would wake them up and tell them where we would be spending the day. Seth said we should wait, they would be more excited if we told them once they were wide awake, but I just couldn't wait. We went into their room, woke them up & told them the news. They looked right at me and then went back to sleep:) Not exactly the reaction I was hoping for, but I should have listened to Seth:)
such sleepy kids
Once they were awake and had breakfast they got super excited about spending the day at Disneyland.

Our first stop was Dumbo! Kimmie loved this ride when we went to Disney World, so we knew we had to stop their first.

After riding a few rides we went to our lunch reservations at Cafe Orleans. It was delicious! They had the best Monte Cristo sandwich.

YUMMY!!!
We knew going into this that we would be spending all our time on kids rides, but Cyndy and Seth were nice enough to take the kids on a ride while I went on the Indian Jones ride. This was my first time at Disneyland (I have been to Disney World a few times) and the only ride I really wanted to go on was Indian Jones, so I am glad I was able to.

You are only allowed a certain amount of people between each horse, and there was a woman next to us, so I had to ride on the horse with Joshua

It was perfect, we were walking along and we spotted Mary Poppins. There was no line and Kimmie walked right up to her. Kimmie still talks about how beautiful she was!

Next we headed over to California Adventure. We went on the Ferris Wheel and rode the new Little Mermaid ride. Kimmie also went on the Jumping Jellyfish ride, which she absolutely loved! She kept asking to go on Screamin. We told her that it goes upside down, but she said "it's ok, you have a seat belt on".

so dizzy!

After spending some time at California Adventure we headed back to Disneyland to finish off our day. It was a long, hot day, but tons and tons of fun!!! Kimmie's favorite ride was Small World. David's favorite was the Ferris Wheel. Kimmie loved meeting Mary Poppins and all the other character's, David was still a little afraid of them. It was such a great day. I am so glad Cyndy was there to share it with us!
