Words cannot even describe how much I love this picture!! Kimmie & David look adorable, as usual, but David's pose cracks me up. He looks like a little southern plantation owner, he just needs some straw in his mouth and it would be complete! These hats used to be Seth's Granny's, she got them on one of her many amazing travels. The kids loved wearing them & I love this picture!

Sewing
Ever since my mom gave me a new sewing machine last Christmas I have been putting it to good use. My latest project was a garment bag for a friend of mine. My mom made me one a few years ago to carry my temple clothes in and when my friend saw is she commented how much she liked it. I went to the store that week and got to work. I did not have a pattern for it, so I made up my own. I am pretty proud of how it turned out, so I had to brag and share. These pictures were taken on Seth's cell phone, so they are not the best, but you get the idea....
When you unfold it the big pocket is for holding your shoes and other stuff.
Then you just fold it up and voila, you are ready to go:)

A lot can happen in 60 seconds
It is no secret that David is an active boy...and with that comes bumps, bruises and even broken bones. But, last week we had an even bigger scare...choking. This is not the first time David has choked, we have previously made one trip to the ER when he shoved a handful of hot dogs into his mouth but that time wasn't that bad. Here is what happened this time...
We were all hanging out upstairs (Me, Seth, Kimmie, David, Kathy, Nathan & Christopher) and David was eating almonds, which he has had a billion times before, but this time he was walking around while eating them. He tried to step down off something and fell. When he fell he scraped his back and started to cry. Seth walked over and picked him up, as he was carrying him David we noticed he still had not let out a second cry. He inhaled to cry, but we kept waiting for the wail that usually follows...but there was nothing, he was just holding his head back trying to catch his breath. At first I thought he must have knocked the wind out of himself when he fell. Seth turned him around to see what was going on and in that moment David quickly lost consciousness and went completely limp. His eyes closed, arms fell to his side and was not breathing. Then I suddenly thought maybe he hit his head when he fell and I didn't' see it, but then Seth flipped him down and starting doing back blows on him and it hit me, our little boy was choking. Initially nothing came out, so Seth moved to the chair to sit down to help angle David better. I grabbed David's hands and held them and prayed while Seth continued to hit his back. In what seemed like forever, but was really only like 30 seconds, little chunks of almond began to come out of his mouth and he started crying/breathing again. When Seth turned him back up his lips were blue, but he was breathing and coherent. We asked if he was ok and he kept responding yes. We sat and held him for a while and soon enough he was running around playing with Kimmie like nothing happened. That is when I went downstairs and cried like a baby! We were all so calm during it, but after the adrenaline wore off it really hit me how close we came to losing our precious boy.
I am sharing this as a record, like a journal entry, but also because I want all the parents out there to make sure they know what to do in emergency situations. Seth is a Boy Scout leader and frequently teaches first aid as a part of scouts, so he knew exactly what to do and responded so quickly. I took a class when Kimmie was first born, and because of the previous hot dog incident I know what to do in situations like this. But it got me thinking, do the people we leave our kids with know what to do? It is so important that everyone, especially those who care for children, know what to do in emergency situations. The whole thing, start to finish, did not last for more than 60 seconds, but it only takes less than a second for things to go from very good to very bad. I do not mean to scare anyone, but I think we should all be prepared. I am not going to become one of those overprotective, safety obsessed parents, but I do want to be able to do all that I can to protect my children. I can do that by keeping up with the current ways to do CPR and handle choking and also by praying every day that Heavenly Father will watch over and protect the ones I love. I know I cannot keep them completely safe, but it brings me so much comfort to know that Heavenly Father takes care of us and that no matter what, we are an eternal family, nothing will ever separate us.
Let's just hope David has more lives than a cat, because I am pretty sure he has already used up his 9 lives and he is not even two yet!

27 weeks
I am 27...almost 28 weeks along and feeling tons better! No more contractions and no more bed rest. I am still pretty tired and am supposed to be "taking it easy" but I am well and the baby is doing great! The only complaint I have is random people who comment on how huge I am. I know my belly is bigger than most at this stage in pregnancy, but if one more person comments "are you sure it's not twins?" or "are you going to get bigger???" I might just scream!

Just one of those days....
I am sure many of you know what I am talking about, especially parents, when you have just had one of those days where you haven't even been out of bed 10 minutes before you want to crawl right back in and skip that day...well that was my day Friday. Right from the time they woke up the kids were in a "mood". Kimmie had been in timeout 3 times before lunch time and at one point I had to separate Kimmie & David because they were punching each other for who knows why. They hardly ever fight, and are extremely amazing kids, but that day was just a very stressful day filled with lots of time outs and me trying not to lose my mind!
It was a long day, but we survived. At the end of the night before going to bed, Seth and I always check in on the kids. That night we found them like this.....
Seeing this just made my day! I felt so much love and joy seeing them asleep together, it made me forget about the rough day we had. This is the first time David has fallen asleep with Kimmie. He is very independent and likes to sleep alone, he has never been much of a snuggler. They just looked so sweet sleeping next to each other and I am so happy they get along so well. Even though they have their moments, they really do love each other so much!!!
What a blessing it is to be their mom!!

bedrest, you are not my friend!
Well, last Thursday I went into the hospital having contractions that were 2 minutes apart. This is a BAD thing because I was only 24 weeks along. While in the hospital they ran an FFN test, which came back positive. What that means it that my chances of having a preterm baby are increased. So, they got my contractions under control, monitored me and baby for a while and sent us home to bedrest.
Friday I had an ultrasound and the baby looks great and I was feeling great so they said to be careful and we just had to wait and see. Well, Saturday I was having so much back pain I could barely walk and could not stand up all the way, by Saturday night it was getting better and by Sunday it was almost gone. Then, Monday morning it started again, but this time worse. After many phone calls back and forth with my midwife, a visit to my amazing friend who's a chiropractor, and another trip to the hospital it has been decided that they can't really figure out exactly what is wrong. Basically, they said that my muscles and joints are very loose perparing for baby and after the problems with contractions and bedrest, my joints shifted making it difficult and very painful to move. It is what's called Pelvic Separation and trust me it's very painful! Plus this baby boy is super heavy, causing more weight and pressure on my body.
So, I have been seeing a chiropractor and tomorrow I am going to see an acupuncturist. I am still on bed rest, but only because I cannot walk well. It takes all the energy I have just to walk to the bathroom, so I have no choice but to stay in bed. I am slowly getting better and hopefully will be feeling back to my normal self by next week. I will have to be careful and rest my body a lot. The contractions were really a warning to me to take it easy. This baby boy needs lots more time to cook and I plan to do all I can to help him stay.
But don't worry, baby is doing fine and aside from walking like a 90 year old woman, I am doing fine too! I am not out of the clear yet, because of that positive FFN test they are keeping a close eye on the baby, but so far he seems to be doing well and the contractions have slowed to only 1 or 2 a day, so that is good.

Fun day out at the falls...
Yesterday we decided to take a little trip up the Columbia River Gorge to see all the waterfalls. It was a gorgeous day out, just perfect!! We went up a different way than we usually do, so we got to see some falls I haven't been to before. There are some falls we skipped, but we did our best to get pictures of most of them. The kids were great and we had so much fun out as a family. I can't wait for summer!!
Seth & the kids at one of the view points
Kimmie & David's bench picture (it's tradition in Seth's family to take a bench picture, so I am continuing that tradititon!)

Cute kids:)
Latourell Falls
Seth walked down to Latourell Falls. It was so funny, Kimmie kept yelling "you're crazy daddy! Be careful, it's muddy!"
I love this picture because it really shows how huge the waterfall is
Shepperd's Dell Falls
It was hard to get a full picture of this one, but it starts way up top
