Still in Michigan....

We are in Michigan and keeping busy. We got in Wednesday & so did Nicky. I was pretty nervous about how the kids would do on the flight, but they were GREAT! David slept the whole time and Kimmie slept and enjoyed looking out the window. Friday Tina, Scott & Spencer flew in. After picking them up from the airport we went to The Henry Ford Museum. They have a lot of interesting things there, like the chair Abraham Lincoln was sitting in when he was shot. They also have the bus that Rosa Parks sat in. Saturday some of us went to the University of Michigan football game. Seth & I have always wanted to go to a game so we decided we better go this time because who knows when we will get the chance again. The game was a lot of fun, they played Western Michigan and won. I can't believe how many people they cram into that stadium! We were crammed in like sardines. But it was still a lot of fun. After the game we headed down to Southgate, where I grew up. There was a big festival going on and a lot of my dads family was there. We were able to see a lot of family that I haven't seen in years. Some of them met Seth for the first time! It was great seeing family. Being down there brought back a lot of memories, especially memories of my dad. It was a happy, but sad day for me. I enjoyed visiting, but it really made me realize how happy I am with my life. I really LOVE Oregon and I am so glad I have Seth in my life. He really is my best friend!!! Michigan will always be special to me, it is where I grew up, a lot of my memories are here, but Oregon is my home now. I just wish I could take some of the people I love in Michigan (and in Utah) and relocate them to Oregon:) Maybe one day....
Today was church and then we had some family over for a BBQ. There was also an antique car parade and a light parade. My parents live right on Main Street so we can just sit in the front yard and watch the parades go by. Tomorrow we are having a bunch of people over for a BBQ and to watch more parades. They do a bunch on Labor Day, it is crazy. It has been a fun trip, so far, filled with good food, yummy elephant ears, apple cider and great fall weather. We will be heading home Tuesday morning and I will post pictures then. We hope everyone has a great Labor Day!!!

Fiddler on the Roof & Hood to Coast

Last Wednesday me, Seth, Scott & Alena went to see Fiddler on the Roof. Topol, who played Tevye in the movie, is doing his farewell tour and we were lucky enough to see him perform! He was amazing, his voice sounded exactly the same. He has appeared in this role over 2500 times so far. Crazy! I really enjoyed this play, it was funny & performed very well.

A few weeks ago Seth's cousin called and asked if he & Scott would like to join their team for the Hood to Coast relay. Here is some info for those who are not familiar with this race: it is 197 miles and starts at Mt. Hood and ends at the Pacific Ocean in Seaside, Oregon. There are 12,000 runners and 3,500 volunteers. It is the largest relay in the world! Their teams start time was 7 am Friday and they finished the race Saturday around 2:30pm. Friday Kathy & I took the kids to one of the exchange points so we could see Seth. Then Saturday I took the kids and drove out to the coast so we could be there to watch Seth's team cross the finish line. After the race we played on the beach for a bit with Kimmie. She loves the "BBBIIIGGG" water. She also enjoyed chasing the seagulls while screaming "I get em!! I get em!" The water was super cold but she didn't mind.
We are off to Michigan tomorrow to spend Labor Day with the family. I will try to blog while we are there, but who knows how busy we will be. We are hoping to visit family we haven't seen in years and friends we haven't seen in many many years.

Out of the mouths of babes

Kimmie is talking more and more these days & she just cracks us up! I had to share these two stories before I forget them....

Seth was making homemade rolls two nights ago & Kimmie was sitting on the couch next to me watching a movie. She looked right at me and said "Mmmmm....smells goodlicioius!"

Tonight we went to Seth's cousins house & they have chickens. Kimmie was even brave enough to pet one of the chickens (thanks to Tammy chasing them & catching it). After Kimmie was done petting the chicken she got in the car with Papa & Aunt Cyndy. This is how the conversation happened:
Kimmie: "chickens. chickens. chickens"
Cyndy: "Yeah, you got to see the chickens. And pet them too!"
Kimmie: "chickens.....I eat em!"

She is too funny! She even has a fake laugh she does. Thank you Kimmie for all the joy and laughter you bring to our family!! We love you:)

Kimmie's 2nd Birthday & check-ups

Kimmie turned two on August 16th. The morning started with Mickey Mouse shaped pancakes & then we went to church. I made little mini cupcakes for Kimmie to take to nursery, they were so good! For dinner that night we had make your own pizza. Kimmie LOVES pizza! Then we sang Happy Birthday to her & had cupcakes.

Wednesday night we did a BBQ in the park to celebrate Kimmie's birthday. I really wanted to make her a special cake, but I have never done anything like that before. After a little brainstorming & some help from the internet, I decided to make her a Mickey Mouse cake (can you tell she really likes Mickey!) It took me two hours to decorate & I am SO proud of how it turned out....

All my hard work is about to be cut up...

and of course a picture of David:)

Thank you to everyone who celebrated with us & for all the birthday wishes & wonderful gifts. She is such a spoiled little girl, but very loved!!!

Kimmie & David also had their check-ups on Wednesday. Kimmie is in the 90th percentile for her height, weight & head circumference. She weighs 32 lbs, 35 1/2 in tall and her head is 50 cm. She is super tall for her age, but is proportionate to her weight. I have to take a second to brag (it's my blog, so I am allowed to) the doctor said she has never seen a 2 year old as smart as Kimmie, she even said Kimmie is as advanced as some 4 or 5 year olds!!! She knows all her colors, can count to 15, says more words than we can count and puts sentences together too! It is kind of scary, we have to constantly watch what we say because she repeats EVERYTHING!!! She even has a new "courtesy laugh" she does, it is too funny! She knows most of her ABC's and potty training is the next thing on our list....after all the vacations we have coming up.

David is 2 months old and weighs 13 lbs 3 oz. He is 24 in long and his head is 39.6 cm. David is also in the 90th percentile for all three. He is a big boy, but proportionate like his big sister. He is super strong and already holds himself up like a 4 month old. We have to watch him constantly because he is always wiggling around. He is such a great little boy. He has started giving us little smiles and cooing noises. I love it when we make eye contact and he smiles at me, melts my heart every time! Kimmie loves him so much and is very helpful! We are so blessed to have such amazing children!

These next couple months are going to be super busy, so I might not blog as much as I normally do. We are heading out to Michigan in two weeks and a week after that we are going to Disney World. It will be a crazy month, but a lot of fun!!!

so much going on.....

Last week my family all came into town for David's blessing. It was a busy time, but worth it! It was great being with everyone & we took so many great pictures. David is doing well, growing like a champ. He is 7 weeks old now & weighs 12 lbs 8 ounces. Kimmie will be turning 2 in a week, I can't believe it! They are growing way too fast!!! Here are a few of my favorites & if you want to see more you can visit Tina or Nicky's blog.
