2 month check-up

I can't believe Joshua is already 2 months old, here are his stats:

Weight: 13 lbs 5 ozs (75th percentile)

Height: 23 1/4 inches (75th percentile)

Head: 16.2 inches (98th percentile)

I was a little worried to see that he had dropped from the 90th percentile to the 75th for his height and weight, but the doctor says that is not anything to worry about. He is still a big, healthy boy. He smiles all the time and even laughs a little. He is starting to make new noices, mostly "coo" and "ooo".

Kimmie is great at getting him to smile and David loves to snuggle with him. This boy sure is loved by everyone around him!!!

Happy Birthday Uncle Cot Cot!!

Happy Birthday Scott!

The kids have been so excited because today is Cot Cot's birthday! (They call him Cot Cot because that is what Kimmie called him when she was little and it was so cute, it just stuck.) They are very excited to go to lunch with him today.
They love all their Aunts and Uncles, but they have an extra close bond with Scott. He and Kimmie were instantly close and it has continued with all the kids. I hope their relationship continues to stay close throughout their lives.
Here is one example of how much they love Scott. Every time the front door opens, David runs to it calling "Cot Cot". He is always sad when it is not him. Kimmie and David also like to play "Cyndy and Scott". They are great with their imaginations. David will pretend to ride up on his scooter, it is adorable to watch!
They are very lucky to have so many amazing aunts and uncles, but today we celebrate Scott. So HAPPY BIRTHDAY COT COT! We hope you have a WONDERFUL birthday and that this year brings you everything you desire and deserve!

...potty training this handsome boy. He asked me if he could go to the potty, and he went right away, so I decided it was time to stop avoiding it and actually potty train him. It is nice to only have one child in diapers again!

Friends & Triathlons

We were lucky enough to have our amazing friends Angie and Rossii come spend a couple days with us. My sister Nicky bought a new car, and gave us her van, so Angie and Rossii were nice enough to drive it from Utah for us and spend a couple days visiting. It was so fun (like always) having them visit. Their daughter, Daisy, is only a couple months older than David and it was so much fun watching the kids all play together. They all loved each other so much.
Yesterday Seth competed in the Best in the West Triathlon with his brother, Scott. I love that Seth is so willing to try new things, it really inspires me to step out of my comfort zone and try things. In 2009 he ran the Portland Marathon and Hood to Coast relay. In 2010, I ran a marathon and Hood to Coast. Looks like next year I will be doing a triathlon:)
I am so proud of Seth for doing this triathlon! It was especially nice having Ang and Ross there to watch them with me. Maybe next year Rossii will do it with them;)
It was a very busy weekend filled with laughing until I cried, great food, movies, football, and trying new things. Weekends like this remind me of how blessed I am to have such an amazing husband, family, and friends. I can't wait to see what Seth will sign up for next....

4 years old!

On August 16th Kimmie turned 4 years old!

I can't believe my baby girl is already 4. We went to the park to celebrate with her friends and she had a blast!!! She has such amazing friends, what a lucky girl!

Then my parents were able to come and spend 3 days with us. The kids loved having them here, Kimmie cried when we dropped them off at the airport. They love Grandma and Grandpa so much. We just wish we got to visit with them more than a couple times a year (hint hint, it's time to move Grandma and Grandpa!!!)

Today Kimmie had her 4 year check-up. Here are her stats:

weight: 41 lbs 8 oz (90th percentile)

height: 3 ft 5 5/8 in (90th percentile)

Blood pressure: 86/52

Right now they predict her adult height will be 5'8"

The doctor is VERY impressed with her physical and mental development. She is doing most stuff that kids in kindergarten do. We had the option to start her in school a year early, but decided against that. I am not ready to send my baby girl off to school just yet. But, she is starting preschool in a couple weeks and I know she will love it!

The doctor asked Kimmie a bunch of questions. Quizzed her on colors, letters, counting, etc. Then she asked if she could write her name. I am ashamed to say we have never worked on this with her, so when she told the doctor she could, I was curious to see what kind of scribble she would come up with...but to my surprise she wrote this...

Isn't that amazing!!!

Kimmie is such an amazing, smart, beautiful, fun girl! What a wonderful blessing she is to all of us.

We love you Kimmie!!!!

We have today!

My parents came in for a short visit to meet Joshua and see Kimmie and David. My poor mom only gets to see her grand kids about twice a year, and it is always very hard for her to leave. Yesterday while we were in the car, my mom was telling Kimmie how sad she is to be leaving them. Kimmie's response was so sweet...here is how the conversation went....

My mom: "Grandma is sad because I have to leave tomorrow."
Kimmie: "That's ok Grandma, we have today!"

What a great lesson we can learn from Kimmie. Don't focus so much on tomorrow that you forget to enjoy today!!
We will miss Grandma and Grandpa like crazy!!!!
