My 3 kids...

People say having 3 kids is the scariest thing ever...I say it is the BEST thing ever!!! I cannot imagine life without them.

Kimmie and David are loving having Joshua here. The most commonly used phrases in our house these days are "Isn't he so cute!" or "Hi baby Joshua" or my personal favorite "Mommy's belly isn't big anymore!" (that one is from Kimmie)

They are such sweet kids and we are so blessed to be their parents.

38 weeks!!!

Wow, today I am 38 weeks. This is officially the longest I have ever been pregnant (David was born at 37.4 weeks). Yesterday I met with my midwife and a new doctor to discuss what our plan is. After a lot of talking, we decided that we will try to have this baby natural delivery, with the understanding that if at any point things do not progress they way they should we do a c-section. I am very happy with this decision. The doctor said right now it is really a 50/50 chance of c-section, but I am happy we will at least be trying for natural.

It seems that these annoying and painful contractions are finally doing something too. I have been 80-90% effaced and dilated to a 1-1.5 for the last two months, and yesterday I was finally dilated to a 2. Then the doctors decided to strip my membranes. Stripping the membranes releases hormones that help soften the cervix and help the uterus to contract. If my body is already starting toward labor it will help it start labor. If my body is not ready yet, it won't do anything but make me uncomfortable. So far it has just made me uncomfortable;)

I also had another growth ultrasound yesterday and he is measuring 9.10 lbs. I feel that is really accurate, especially considering my belly is measuring 47 weeks!!!! See for yourself.....

Hopefully this big boy will be joining our family very soon, I am very anxious to meet him:)

No deal!!!

So in an effort to save money, we have decided to cancel our cable. The kids LOVE watching movies, and we can stream Netflix, so we decided it just isn't worth the cost anymore. Today I sat the kids down to explain to them that we wouldn't have it anymore.

After I explained, I turned to Kimmie, stuck out my hand, and said "deal?". She quickly shook my hand and responded, "Deal!" Then I turned to David and did the same thing. He sat there for a second thinking, stuck out his hand and said, "Ummm.....No Deal!"

Seth and I could not stop laughing. It was so funny. Seconds later he decided it was a deal, but for that one moment he was not ready to give up his cable! Kimmie and David sure do keep us laughing every day!!!

fetal macrosomia

Fetal Macrosomia is a fancy way of saying you have big babies. Yesterday I had a growth ultrasound of this baby boy and right now he is measuring at whopping 9 lbs 7 oz! And no, I do not have gestational diabetes, high blood pressure, or any other problems that would be causing him to be so big, we just make huge babies:) I will be 37 weeks tomorrow, so this really poses a lot of problems and questions about my labor and delivery.

Yes, I have had large babies before (David was born at 37 weeks & weighed 9.8 lbs) But, right now my midwife, and all the doctors at the office, are concerned that because of the size of this big boy, my risk for shoulder dystocia increases. Shoulder dystocia is when the baby's head is birthed, but the shoulders get stuck. This makes it impossible for the baby to take his/her first breath and requires additional maneuvers to deliver the baby, sometimes requiring dislocating the baby's shoulder. Not only is this a health risk for the baby, because of lack of oxygen and the physical damage done to get him out, but also to the mother.

Because of this increased risk, my midwife is advising me to have a c-section to help avoid any complications. So, after a lot of thought and prayer, our plan right now is that if I happen to go into labor within the next few days, I will elect to have a vaginal delivery. We are also scheduling a c-section for when I reach 38 1/2 weeks (in about 10 days) and if I happen to go into labor after this weekend, but before the 38 1/2 week mark, they will do an emergency c-section.

This was such a hard choice for us to make, it is not at all what I had planned for this delivery, but I have to do all I can to ensure this baby boy has the safest birth possible, even if it is not what I wanted. Of course, I can change my mind at any time. If I go into labor and decide I don't want a c-section, that is my choice and my midwife really supports whatever I want to do.

Overall I feel peaceful with the decision we've made. We have everything ready for this baby boy to come, so now we are just waiting for him to decide when that time is. I cannot believe how fast this pregnancy has gone by...soon we will be a family of 5!!!

June & July fun!

We have been keeping very busy lately. After celebrating David's birthday Seth and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary. We have also been taking full advantage of the nice weather and taking the kids out to play everyday. Here are some pictures of what we have been up to so far this summer...

On our anniversary we took the kids to the Portland Temple to walk around. It is crazy to think of how much has changed in the last 5 years, but what amazing changes they have been.

I feel so blessed to have married such an amazing husband and father. I love Sethy so much, he is the best!!!

The kids did great, they were not even a little bit scared. They kept reaching for the fireworks, saying "I can't reach them!"

And of course, a new pregnancy picture. This was taken at 35, almost 36, weeks. I have been gaining an insane amount of weight, 5.5 pounds in one week!!! At my last appointment my midwife started talking about possibly inducing me and maybe even the need to have a c-section, due to his size. We'll have to wait and see. I am not thrilled about being induced or having a c-section, so I am trying to tough it out and wait for him to join us on his time. I am huge and uncomfortable, but want to give him as much time to cook as he needs. Everything is set up and ready for him, so when he comes we are as ready as we can be.

David's 2 year check-up

Today David had his 2 year check-up, here are his stats...

Weight 31 lbs 4.5 oz (80th percentile)

Height 37 1/4 inches (97th percentile)

Head Circumference 20 in (97th percentile)

The doctor said he is the size of a 3 year old and as smart as a 3 year old, he even counted to 7 for her! They also did his height projection and they are guessing he will be around 6'3". Looks like we better start him in football and basketball very soon:)

He is really growing and developing great. He talks so much and is such a good boy. He loves to play with Kimmie and cars are his favorite toy to play with. He is always crashing and racing them.

What a sweet, sweet boy, we just love him so much!!! I am done bragging now:)
