Will the thrush ever end????

Well, Kimmie has been battling thrush for almost 2 months now. First the doctor gave us medicine to give her after every feeding for two weeks and I had to do a topical treatment on myself to ensure we didn't just pass it back and forth to each other. Well, it went away for a couple days and then came back. So, we did round two of the medicine.....same thing happened. So, now the next treatment we are doing is called gentian violet. It is an antifungal agent that we put on a q-tip and rub in her mouth before her morning and evening feedings. We have to do this for 4 days. It seems to be working so far but the funny thing about this treatment is it dyes everything purple!!!! So, for the next couple days Kimmie will have a purple mouth and sometimes her hands get a little on them if she puts them in her mouth. Kimmie doesn't seem to be bothered by the thrush. But, I also have an infection in my milk ducts, caused by yeast, so I am also being treated with oral medicine. Thrush is a tricky thing, no matter what we did it seems like Kimmie and I just kept passing it back and forth...at least we are good at sharing:) Here are two pictures of Kimmie after I gave her the gentian violet. Isn't she cute?!?!?
We finally bought our plan tickets for our trip back to Michigan for Christmas. We are going from December 15-28th. It should be fun, I know my family is so excited to spend time with Kimmie ~they could care less about me and Seth:) Now we have to go out and buy winter jackets since it's going to be FREEZING in Michigan! Well, that's about it for now. I promise the video of Kimmie talking is coming soon.

Sorry it's been so long....

Well, I know I was slacking but it's been a busy week. Kimmie got sick and then it was Thanksgiving, then Seth's birthday....ok, no more excuses. Kimmie is doing much better. Her cold is gone but she is still fighting thrush. She has had it for so long. The doctor said we would do one more treatment of the nystatin, which is a medicine we put in her mouth. If it doesn't work this time then we do something else, but I'm not sure what. It doesn't affect her at all, she still eats well and is so playful. She is laughing and smiling so much more now. I tried to catch it on video but when I record her she just lays there and stares at the camera. I did record a little bit today and I will post it later. It is so fun hearing her laugh and talk. The other night we woke up at 5 am to her laughing away in her cradle, it was so cute.
Thanksgiving was good.We went to see Enchanted at noon and then had a great dinner with Kathy, Kevin, Scott, Cyndy, Christopher, Aunt Deborah, Uncle Larry, Lance, Bekah and Andrew. Enchanted was a really cute movie, I recommend it. Kind of cheesy, but cute! After dinner Seth and Kimmie took a nap, I guess the tryptophan really got to them;)
Yesterday was Seth's birthday. We slept in late and then went to Whole Foods for lunch. Then we watched football and I had this super nice dinner planned to make for him. When I went to take the potatoes out I noticed they were rotten, no problem we had instant so I was going to make them. So I started that and then took the steaks out to season and those were bad too. I don't know if our fridge wasn't up high enough but the steaks turned this horrible color and odor. So, dinner plans had to be changed at the last minute. Seth's parents watched Kimmie and we went out to dinner. Seth didn't want to make a big deal out of his birthday so I wasn't allowed to tell anyone about it. We just relaxed and spent the day together, it was nice.
Seth is almost done with school, his last final is on December 13th. Then we are off to Michigan for Christmas.
Well, I think that should get you caught up. Here is a picture of Kimmie and Seth sleeping after dinner and Kimmie's 3 month old picture. I will post the video of Kimmie soon. Enjoy!!!

First time being sick:(

Poor little Kimmie is sick. She seems to have caught the virus that is going around. It's so hard seeing her sick. She just coughs and looks at us like "help me mom and dad, HELP ME!!" She seems to be getting better so that's good. Well, she's crying so I better go.

So much going on.......

Well, what a busy weekend we had. My mom, Tom, Nicky and Grandma Groves came into town on Wednesday night for Kimmie's baby blessing. The didn't get into town until late that night so we went straight to bed. Thursday we just hung out during the day and walked around the Temple that night. Tina and Scott came in Friday night. We didn't do too much while everyone was here, mostly just enjoyed being around each other. We did play Guitar hero, that was fun!
Kimmie's blessing was on Sunday and it went great. We had a lunch at Seth's parents after and the food was so good (Thanks Dad....and Mom) Then we went back to our apartment and had a mini Thanksgiving dinner. All the family left today. It's kind of bitter sweet, they drive me crazy sometimes but I love them so much!!!! Overall it was so much fun having them here. Kimmie is doing great and so are me and Seth. I don't really have much more to say. Here are some of the many pictures we took this trip. Kimmie is really smiling so much more!!!!!

Our little pumpkin

Hello everyone! I just love the fall season and it is especially beautiful in Oregon. The leaves changed colors and are falling, the temperature is also falling but I love it! Over the weekend Seth, Kimmie, Scott and me went to the pumpkin patch. There is a show called Little People Big World on TLC and they have a pumpkin patch near by so we decided to go. It was kind of lame but we got our pumpkins so mission accomplished. We started carving them but the knife broke while I was carving and cut my finger so I think we are done with that. We got Kimmie's little pumpkin carved so that's good enough.
Speaking of little pumpkins.....Kimmie is a little pumpkin for Halloween. We took her to trunk or treat at Seth's parents ward for a little bit and tonight we are passing out candy! She has slept most of the day, so she's not too excited for Halloween. My parents, Nicky and grandma Groves come into town tonight so I think she is getting her rest while she can. Tina and Scott get here on Friday:)
Kimmie is growing so fast, last week she weighed 11 lbs 5 oz. I was told that we have to do her weight and height according to when my due date was, so technically she is measured 6 weeks younger. Even doing it that way she is still normal for her weight to height ratio. She is also learning to suck her thumb, it is so cute. I have a video of it I will post later. Although she does not do most of the things a 10 week old does, she is starting to smile so much more and can really focus on objects. It is so great when she makes eye contact. The doctor says we only have to consider her a "preemie" until she is 2. But, she is such a smart girl and she is already catching up so fast so we're not worried. Well, time to pass out candy. Happy Halloween!!!!
P.S. Happy Birthday (yesterday) Scott Dillenbeck!!!!!

2 months old!!!!!

Yesterday Kimmie turned two months old!! I can't believe it, she is getting so big. She had her 2 month well child check and she is doing great. She now weighs 10 lbs 13 oz, which is in the 50th percentile. She is 23 1/2 inches long, which is in the 90th percentile! If she keeps this going she'll be tall like her daddy. She had her first round of vaccines and she did great. She cried when they first stuck her with the needle but then stopped, she's so tough! Here is her 2 month picture....

Here is another cute picture of her......

And here is a picture of her wearing her uncle Scott's hat....looks like she has sticky fingers like her daddy:)

In other news Seth started his new job. He has been working 5:45am-2pm. It seems ok so far, but Kimmie and me miss him! He has school Monday-Thursday nights so we see him for a little bit before he goes to class. He is looking into a CNA program so he will probably start that soon. We found a place that will pay to train and certify you as long as you work for them for 6 months after. That is what he is going to do so he can get a job at the hospital as a CNA, which pays better. Plus, it will look good on his application to the PA program. Oh yeah, in case I haven't mentioned it Seth has finally picked a career. He is going to get his bachelors degree and the apply for his masters to be a Physicians Assistant. He is really excited about it and so am I. He loves helping people and I know he will do a fabulous job!!! Nothing new is going on with me. I still have one class left to complete to get my associates degree. It is an online independent study math class and I haven't been very motivated lately, I really need to finish that. Being a mom is great. I can't believe what a great little girl Kimmie is. She still only eats every 4 hours and sometimes during the night she goes 5-6 hours. We are so lucky!!!
Well, our family is doing great and we hope everyone else is doing well. Leave us a message, we would LOVE to hear from you!!!!!
