our newest addition...

We got new couches! I have never had new couches before. Our old ones were hand-me-downs from my cousin years ago and they got lots of good use, but it was time to retire them. I have been eyeing a leather couch set for almost a year now and when they went on sale I had to get them! I even had an additional 10% off coupon, what a deal! Here are some pictures (Please ignore the mess in the background!)

A special visit...

Today we took Kimmie and David on a special visit to see Papa. They haven't been to visit him since he went into the hospital over 2 months ago! He was finally able to have his trach removed and is no longer hooked up to any machinest, so we thought it would be good for them (and for him!) to visit. Since it is Halloween they went in their costumes and he even had a little goodie bag filled with candy for them. They were both a little shy while we were there, but when we were walking to the car Kimmie turned to me and said "wasn't it so nice to see Papa!"
She really loves him so much and misses him a lot!

Keeping Busy

Wow, things sure have been busy lately. As I mentioned in an earlier post, Seth's Dad went into the hospital on August 19th for surgery. He had some complications from the initial surgery and had to undergo 5 (I think it was 5, could be 6, I started to lose count) more surgeries over the last 7 weeks. Well, we are happy to announce that last Friday he was discharged from OHSU and is now at a rehab facility for the next 2 weeks. Then after that we are hoping he will be able to come home. He has lost a lot of weight and has been through a lot, but he really seems to be doing well and it seems like this last surgery was successful. I haven't been blogging about this much, but I really felt like I needed to express my gratitude for the many, many prayers that were said for Kevin & our family. It has been a very busy time for us, but I have felt so much peace because of all the prayers and help from those around us, so thank you!
School also started again for Seth & I. Seth will be graduating December 7th, YAY!!! Between work, school, Kevin & the kids things have been a little crazy around here. But, it seems like things are finally starting to settle down a bit. I don't know what happened to summer, it went by so fast, but I am so glad Fall is here, it's my favorite time of year! If you haven't experienced Fall in Portland I suggest you plan a trip to visit us, it's beautiful!
The kids are doing great and growing like crazy!!! David is 16 months old and a little wild man! He loves to climb on everything and is always running around. He also gives the best hugs and kisses, it's too cute! Kimmie is so excited for Halloween, she can't stop talking about it. She is going to be Minnie Mouse and Aunt Nicky even sent her a cute homemade Minnie skirt. We got it in the mail yesterday and Kimmie hasn't taken it off since, she even slept in it!
We hope everyone is doing great and I promise to try to update more often!
Isn't he so handsome?!?! That shirt was Seth's, I love it on David, he looks so grown up!
a nice candid shot of Kimmie:)

Circus

When I won that Busy Mom of the Week contest, part of my prize was 4 tickets to the Ringling Bros circus. Since David is still a little young and won't sit still for that long, we decided to have Kimmie take a friend. She of course chose her BFF Brandon. These two are seriously inseparable, it's adorable!!! We took the MAX down to the Rose Gardens. I think they both would have been satisfied with just the train ride! They both really enjoyed the circus, especially the motorcycles in the ball. This was also my first time at the circus and it was fun. Our seats were great, 4th row!!! Along with the tickets they gave us 2 goodie bags for the kids, filled with all the stuff that they sell at the circus, but we would never buy because it's way overpriced:) It was a great night & Kimmie still talks about it!

Hood to Coast 2010

So I know, I have been terrible at blogging lately. But it's not my fault, we have a lot going on! On August 27th I ran Hood to Coast with a group of friends from our ward and it was a BLAST!!! For those who don't know, Hood to Coast is the largest relay in the world. It starts at Mt. Hood and 197 miles later ends in Seaside. I was super excited, but very nervous. The scariest part for me was my night run, but it really wasn't that bad. Our van was non-stop laughs and we had so much fun. I am happy to cross another running goal off my list...up next is a half-marathon in October then I am done:)

love these people!

Many of you may already know this, but Seth's dad went in for surgery August 19th. He had some complications after the procedure and unfortunately is still in the hospital. Since then he has had 4 other surgeries and we are praying that the one performed last Wednesday will do the trick and that he will be able to come home soon. It has been really stressful, but we have so many wonderful friends/family who have been helping a lot. We have had dinners made every night for us, babysitters so we can go visit him and most importantly prayers!
aren't they cute playing in the sand together:)
I had to add this cute picture of Papa and Kimmie coloring together
