Warning, if words like uterus or breastfeeding make you nervous I suggest you stop reading.....
This has been a busy week for us. Since Kimmie was born early she wasn't ready to breastfeed and neither was I. But, I am happy to say that it is going well. She is mainly breastfed now, with an occasional bottle during the night. She eats well during the day but for some reason during the night she doesn't want anything but a bottle. Does anyone have any suggestions??? The good thing, but it sometimes makes me nervous, is she sleeps at least 3-5 hours at a time. She doesn't even want to wake up to eat most of the time. She has another doctors appointment tomorrow so as long as she is gaining weight I guess it's ok. I didn't really like her old pediatrician so I scheduled her to see a new one. I heard he is great so hopefully it goes well.
On Labor Day I woke up feeling really sick, kind of like I was getting the flu. We were supposed to go to Seth's parents for a BBQ but I was so sick Seth & Kimmie went alone. I started to feel better and then on Friday morning I started getting really bad stomach pains. I have been having them a lot, but since I just had a baby I figured it was normal. Well, Friday it got worse and I started bleeding a lot more. So, I called the doctor and they told me it was normal and to rest and call if it got worse. So, I took a nap and when I woke up I couldn't even breathe without it hurting. My stomach felt swollen and it hurt to touch it, walk or do anything. I called the doctor again and they told me to come in right away. Well, it turns out my uterus is infected!! They are not sure how it happened, but the doctor says that is what caused me to go into labor early. I figure that, along with the urinary tract infection I also got while pregnant, caused Kimmie to come early. Add that to how big Kimmie was and she just needed to come. I am glad to know why she came. The doctor gave me some hard core antibiotics and I am feeling much better. The bleeding has almost stopped and I can walk and breathe without pain:) So, it has been a crazy week. Seth has really helped a lot and I don't know what I would do without him! He is such a great husband and a wonderful dad!!!!
Kimmie has grown so much. She is starting to stay awake more during the day and sometimes at night. She is more alert and her face is changing so much. She looks so much more grown up! She is almost a month old, I can't believe it! I'll post some pictures of her soon.
Seth is still not working but it has been such a blessing having him home. With Kimmie coming early, then me getting sick there is no way I could have done it without him. He is applying for a couple of jobs this week so we'll see what happens. It's strange to say but I am still not in that big of a hurry for him to go back to working.
Well, that's pretty much our week in a nutshell. Hope everyone else had a fabulous week!!!!

What a week....

This has been a great week! Kimberly is doing great. She now weighs 7 lbs 10 oz and is 20 1/2 inches long. She sleeps all the time but is starting to be more alert with each passing day. We are fortunate to get a lot of sleep during the night, hopefully it will last:) We are doing great and so happy to have Kimberly with us!

new update
Well, Kimmie is doing great! She went from eating 45cc's (which we were very happy about) to eating 60cc's, which we are super happy about. They are taking her out of the incubator tonight and we are bringing in our car seat for her car seat test. They do it on preemies and they put them in the car seat while they are hooked up to an oxygen machine to make sure she can breath right while in the car seat. Today we learned how to give her a bath, her first one:) She is no longer hooked up to any machines and is getting better with every minute. They are retesting her for jaundice tomorrow and as long as she keeps doing well we should have her home with us by Wednesday:) I will keep everyone posted. Thanks for all your messages! Oh, and we will try to get some more pictures up soon.

Kimmie update
First, thanks to Seth and Nicky for posting all the pictures of Kimmie. I was discharged this afternoon. Still a little sore but getting better with time. Kimberly is still in the NICU but she is doing GREAT!!! When she was first born she was eating 20-25 cc's every 3 hours. My milk hasn't come in yet, since she was 5 1/2 weeks early, so for now she is taking formula. But, she has been eating so well and today they started giving her 45 cc's and now she eats whenever she wants, no longer on a schedule!!!! She is still learning how to suck and swallow but she sure does love to eat! That is such great news:) She is doing so well, but it's so hard for us to leave her and go home to sleep tonight. She is having some trouble maintaining her body temp so she is in an incubator right now but should be out of that within a couple days. Her head and face was bruised and swollen from the delivery but that is going away quickly. Today she smiled while Seth was holding her, it was amazing:) She is also a little jaundice so they are retesting her blood on Monday and she may have to have light therapy but that is no big deal. Thanks to everyone for all your congrats and prayers. We are so happy to have her with us, healthy and strong and so amazing! Although she is as big a most full term babies, she is still a preemie and we have to remember that she still has a lot of developing to do and she needs to rest and take time to mature. So please, keep her in your prayers. Thanks everyone and we will post more later.
Love,
Seth, Chrissy and Kimberly
P.S. Dad is also doing great. He feeds her as much as he can and has already changed 2 poopy diapers. We are one happy family:)

Fun new video
Baby Kimberly

Ok, so every time Kimberly moves around I try to catch it on video but I never can....until now:) I recorded it myself so it's from a strange angle but if you watch carefully you can see her move. This video only shows a little bit of how much she moves, she is so active! I had to kind of push her in the beginning of the video to make her move, but don't worry it didn't hurt her:)
Dylan (it's a long story how he fits into the picture but he is the nephew of Cyndy's friend/boss and he has been visiting this summer). Well, he is going back to South Dakota on Monday and wanted to go to the gorge and hike the falls so today we went. Seth, Scott, Cyndy, Nathan and Dylan hiked farther into it so they could go swimming, but it was a hard hike over some fallen trees so I couldn't go so Kathy and I stayed behind and talked.
Seth got a new job at a window factory. It is just temporary work for now and if he likes it and wants to stay on permanently he can. But, it's likely he will keep applying other places and just work there until something else comes along.
Tomorrow is my baby shower for the Davenport family/friends. I am super excited for it because we are having it at the movie theater where Cyndy works and we are watching the movie Becoming Jane. I promise to write after and let everyone know how it goes. We love and miss everyone!!!
