Driving home: Day 7

Monday, August 19, 2013

Time to hit the road. The drive back was amazing. Somehow we lucked out and the kids entertained themselves for the first bit and then they fell asleep. When they woke up they watched a movie and somehow we made it all the way to Boise (5 hours) without stopping. We stopped to get gas and eat lunch in Boise. While we were eating our delicious taco bell, Joshua threw up on the table. I don't know what happened, but he was totally fine after that. Luckily the gas station sold children's Dramamine, so I bought some and gave some to each kid, just in case. The rest of the drive home was great. The kids slept again, watched some movies and then we stopped in Hood River, Oregon (5 hours) to get gas and some snacks. Then from there we were home an hour later. I can't believe we made it all the way home only stopping 2 times! It was a huge help having Oma there, she was able to pass snacks and help with the movie. It was a great trip, but it's always nice to be back in your own bed:)

Utah: Day 6

Sunday, August 18, 2013

Originally we planned to head back home today, but we decided to stay so that Oma could drive home with us to make it to Grandma's funeral. So instead we went to This Is The Place monument. I have always wanted to go, so I was very excited. It is a beautiful monument, but it was so hot out, so we didn't stay long. Next we drove around a cemetery in Salt Lake and looked at a bunch of grave sites. I loved this cemetery, it was so old and peaceful. The rest of the night we hung out with the family at Stephanie's and said our goodbyes to Uncle Scott. The kids were so sad to say by to him. He is so important to them and they love him so much, they miss him every day!!!

Utah: Day 5

Aunt Stephanie planned an awesome day at Rockport Reservoir. She rented jet skis and paddle boards. We had a great picnic and the weather was perfect. I decided that since there was no signs saying pregnant women couldn't ride the jet skis, that it was safe to do so. It was another first for me and I LOVED it. I was a little sore after, but it was well worth it. Kimmie and David even went out on them with us. David only went once, but Kimmie loved them and even went out with Seth's Uncle Paul driving her. She got a little scared because a storm was coming in, she kept saying "don't go toward the storm" but he thought she was saying to slow down. She still had a blast.

There was a dock the boys were jumping off of. Kimmie was even brave enough to jump off that into the water to Seth's cousin, Peter. She really surprised us that day, she tried so many new things. Joshua loved playing in the water. David played a lot and then went to hang out in the chairs with Uncle Scott. Seth's Aunt Debra made cupcakes and we had another birthday celebration for Kimmie. It started to rain just as we were packing up, it was a great day!
